How to make the best of Thinking Into Character?
From 23.03.2020 we have been offering digital teaching services in place of in-class lessons. While the primary focus is on academic delivery, the digital curriculum is more varied and wholistic.
The research suggests that a wholistic approach (focusing on personal, professional and academic achievement) will ensure that students are best placed to achieve success, following their degree programme.
The dimension of personal development is covered by Thinking into Character. The programme is designed to help to develop the growth mind-set, resilience and visionary leadership of all students.
The dimension of professional development is covered by a programme called Career Connect which we are launching after Easter. This programme will work on employability skills, particularly competing in a global world following the Covid-19 pandemic.
The dimension of academic development is covered by the academic syllabus, which remains the bulk of the digital provision.
In today’s uncertain world, the future of work will need a strong combination of all three dimensions and our intention as a college is to prepare students.
With increasing automation, human skills like visionary leadership will be just as important as what you know. The ability to distinguish yourself from your competitors in the global workspace is going to be just as important as what you know. This is why we have included thinking into Character and Career connect as a cornerstone of our digital provision.
Covid-19 is forcing us to shift our perspective, and really focus on what will be needed for you all to secure the best possible jobs AND to gain a competitive advantage as a result of completing a degree with Regent College London.
Akosua Bonsu, Director of Studies for Thinking into Character wrote “This is an unprecedented opportunity to engage each of our students in the award winning programme, Thinking into Character. The philosophy here may will be familiar to some, and new to others, but we want all students to give it a go.”
