Crisis Management Service
More recently, and as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Selva has been providing the Crisis Management Services to clients on a retainer basis. This entails Selva acting as a problem solver and for some clients, working as a mentor by assisting them using the TiC concepts and proven management tools from reputable thinkers and CEOs. The problem solving methodology is based on his study at London Business School, Harvard Business School and Stanford Graduate School of Business in California.
Problem-Solution
Continuum is the answer
The answer rests with the “Problem-Solution Continuum” and the concept of a design school, learning from Stanford, California as part of this service to clients and to help solve the challenges other people and organisations are facing, which can be referred to as “problems to be solved”. This then enables the world to identify an “opportunity GAP” or a “performance GAP”, with in the concept of “giving to society” and not just “trading”.
Selva also pays great attention to the theories of Prof. Clayton Christensen at Harvard Business School and studies daily all of his publications in the world of disruptive innovation and his world famous literature on ‘How do you measure your life?’ The key learning is also to implement the Jobs to be Done Theory.
It is not simply a matter of first fixing the problem and then searching for a satisfactory solution concept. Instead, it is more to be a matter of developing and refining together the formulation of the problem and ideas for its solution, with constant iterations of analysis, and evaluation processes between the two “spaces” – Problem and Solution, with constant focus on “The Solutions” with a positive mental attitude and with a growth mind-set. Otherwise, a solution for a problem in itself can become a problem.
An example of this is use of plastic cups to reduce the risk of customers experiencing an injury from broken glass in for example, nightlife environments, or to reduce the mundane task of washing glasses, this was a solution in 1950’s; however, this has since resulted in increased landfill with detrimental environmental effects; plastic is a massive problem now in 2020.

Fundamentals of the Crisis Management Service
The fundamentals of the Crisis Management Service, are underpinned by Selva’s recent training at Stanford on leading change and organisational renewal, which has solidified his thinking around contemporary crisis management. The innovative current management thinking used in Silicon Valley, San Francisco can assist British and global companies to navigate the economic shock of the current crisis – a potential world economic collapse must be managed with diligence, pragmatic thinking, and a positive mind set, all whilst applying the proven models and the same principles apply to individual businesses and organisations who have been gravely affected by the restrictions associated with the pandemic.
